AFFORDABLE SELF CARE IDEAS FOR BUSY BEES

No matter how busy you are, your income level or what stage of life you’re at, there’s ONE thing you absolutely must incorporate into your life. And that is self-care. Without self-care, you can spend your life perpetually stressed, sick, and exhausted.

The act of prioritizing yourself, taking care of yourself, showing yourself the same love, attention, and, well, care, is critical for yourself and the people who rely on you. If you aren’t maintaining your own strength, how can anyone rely on you?

I’ve compiled a list of small, but meaningful, things that you do to energize, relax, and care for yourself timeously.

SELF CARE IDEA #1: PRACTICE MEDITATION

The mind is a powerful thing. It’s important to reset your intentions daily. Some quiet minutes meditating on the goal as if you’ve already accomplished it, can be really helpful to keep you motivated and prevent you from feeling overwhelmed.

SELF CARE IDEA #2: READING.

Try to read only 10 pages of a personal development or inspirational book each day. No one can stay 100% motivated 24/7, so having a constant reminder that YOU have control over your life and success can be really life changing. Mindset is SO important,

It’s important to be flooding your mind with the belief that you deserve happiness and success.

SELF CARE IDEA #3: WRITE IT DOWN

If you tend to get stressed or overwhelmed by the things you need to get done in a day, get out a sheet of paper and just start writing a list of everything that pops into your head. Don’t overthink, just write.

Another way to do this is by writing down five things that you’re grateful for. This will keep you grounded and give you a feeling of relief.

SELF CARE IDEA #4: LEARN SOMETHING NEW.

You can learn pretty much anything on the internet. It’s crazy, but awesome! There are so many online courses You can learn a new language or how to do your make up like a professional!

SELF CARE IDEA #5: EXERCISE

You need to take care of your body so you can take care of everyone else. Go on a walk, go to the gym or join a class. Just get moving! You will feel better, have more energy, and set an amazing example for your family.

Stretch every day. In the morning and at night. It will change everything about the way your body functions.

SELF CARE IDEA #6: SERVE OTHERS.

Nothing feels better than helping other people! Are you passionate about serving others? Find a volunteer opportunity, collect food for your local shelter, or make a meal for a busy mom friend.

SELF CARE IDEA #7: GET OUTSIDE AND TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF.

Who doesn’t like the feeling of their feet in the grass? Not only does it make you feel like all of the structure and demands of adulting have fallen away, there is also a growing body of scientific evidence to support the health benefits of “grounding” or (ahem, this is a real term) “earthing”, or connecting to the energy of the earth through the soles of your feet.

SELF CARE IDEA #8: MAKE A PHONE CALL

Sometimes all it takes to put things in perspective or turn your day around is to connect with someone. Call a good friend from the car, or a family member on your lunch break. I’ve found that when I’m feeling stressed, even a 15-minute conversation with someone who makes me smile can completely turn my day around.

SELF CARE IDEA #9: WASTE TIME

Time is such a luxury, and for people who are busy, overwhelmed, and stressed, it can be easy to fall into the productivity trap. But there is so much value to just doing … nothing. Productive time-wasting suggestions:

Binge watch Netflix or silly YouTube videos (without also checking emails and social media on your phone, or working on your laptop)

Take a quick nap or a hot bath. For extra luxury, make it a bubble bath scented with essential oils!

Give yourself a spa night with a DIY facial kit

Sit in a coffee shop and do some people watching

Or whatever makes you happy.

The point is that, sometimes, all you have to do to clear your mind is to focus on what’s in front of you right now. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by how much putting down your to do list and making time to just do nothing benefits your mental health.

These are some of my self-care tips for you! I’d love to hear some of yours. Leave me a message in the comments below and tell me what you do to take care of yourself.
